The Romans of Caesar’s Army will not participate in the ‘lime on the greens’ at Saturday’s Panorama Semi-Finals, Queen’s Park Savannah. Attendance at the annual event has been common practice for the event production company, for over 10 years. But this year, amidst improvements announced by Pan Trinbago, the Army has decided to break the mould as it hosts its newest alternative event concept, aptly titled ‘Bacchanal Road’. Led by General Jules Sobion, Caesar’s Army is well-known for introducing unique event concepts. It’s first alternative concept – A.M.Bush J’Ouvert – has seen overwhelming success since inception. The A.M.Bush J’Ouvert band, which celebrates it’s 6th year on the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival calendar in 2016, attained maximum capacity since November 2015. Jules explains that in 2011 when the idea for A.M.Bush first formed, the Army was aware of the great risk involved with hosting an alternative J’Ouvert event – one to be held in the wee hours of carnival Saturday morning, versus the customary Sunday morning breaking of dawn. “We decided to take that risk and to offer Trinbagonians and foreigners alike an alternative; a choice.” That decision has turned out to be one of the Army’s best yet, as A.M.Bush is now regarded as one of the most highly anticipated Trinidad and Tobago Carnival events. The event has so grown in popularity that the Army now hosts A.M.Bush at both Jamaica and Barbados’ Carnival festivities. International pop superstar Rihanna even attended the 2015 installment of A.M.Bush in her native Barbados – a testament to the event’s magnitude. “Bacchanal Road is no different to A.M.Bush in terms of concept,” says Jules. “It is an alternative to the norm. Something new.” Sobion went on to explain that “Caesar’s Army has participated in and thoroughly enjoyed liming on the Queen’s Park Savannah greens at Pan semis for approximately 10 years. But in 2016, we’ve decided to give our patrons a choice. We know that value for money is top priority given the country’s current financial status, so we conceived Bacchanal Road for both masqueraders and non-masqueraders alike.
It is the ultimate ‘warm-up’ to Carnival Monday and Tuesday for masqueraders, and a taste of what masqueraders experience on the road, for those who will not play mas in 2016. Your Carnival, before Carnival.” Bacchanal Road – the alternative concept – will see patrons take to the streets from 2pm on Sunday January 24th, 2016 donning old costumes, Monday wear, shorts, ‘bacchanal’ tops and the like. Auburn Tigers Patrons are encouraged to wear their “best bacchanal outfit” as they “take the road behind a big truck,” just as they typically would on Carnival Monday and Tuesday. “Bacchanal Road is the ideal place to bring back that Carnival nostalgia,” according to Sobion, who foresees popularity of this new event to follow in the steps of Caesar’s Army’s first alternative concept – A.M.Bush J’Ouvert. Bacchanal Road is a drinks inclusive event which includes music by road DJ’s Dei Musicale-The Musical Gods, Private Ryan, Nuphoric, Lord Hype, Ultra Simmo and Mixology Muzik. The event is endorsed by a number of party brands including Illusions Mas, Winerboy Entertainment, Candy Coated Events, Veritas Entertainment, Bess Lime, webetheFUN, Wild Goose and 8six8 Events.
