The following is an independent user submitted review: I must begin by telling you that I am an avid follower, and have been from the very inception of Trinidad Carnival Diary. I find that you are and excellent source for all things carnival, and your critique/comments are usually without bias. I have for years just observed from the sidelines, even though I play mas every year in Trinidad and Miami, and go to carnivals elsewhere. I just feel like this year I have to tell someone, and who better to share with than Saucy herself. buy albion gold Here goes: After playing mas with Poison, Island People, Fantasy 2016 was the year to do try another band. Tribe was chosen I must admit because of ALLLLL the high praises aka hype from several sources. Registration: done through a friend of a friend of a friend tralala. I rather liked that I could log on and make small payments/ payoff prior to arriving. However, I missed the payoff deadline. That being said fast forward to costume collection. Picking up on carnival Friday night. Arrive at Cascadia Hotel crowds of people, ok , I expect that. What I didn’t expect was the non existent direction as to where to begin, what the process will be or where to line up in the maze that is Cascadia Hotel with people just every. Eventually we were sent to a table under a tent to get a number. My number was 742 the young man informed me that he is calling out numbers on a microphone and he currently calling the number 505-510. The wait will be about 2 hours. Ok we sit down. The area was quite a buzz with music, food and drinks being sold, and of course you see people walking by with costume boxes and headpieces. Its exciting ( well except for the fight that took place at the entrance by 2 women over a man buy costume for his side chick and his baby mama) Finally numbers start going really fast when he reach 700 then we were all send thru a door, down some steps, thru a sitting area, up some steps, to the left then thru some more doors to a room with chairs on both sides of the wall no direction, an obviously exhausted employee shouting give me your tickets and sit to the left. . Sat to the left then get move in confusing order to sit to the right. Argument now because there were people sitting saying they were there first and should move to the right side first. The system made no sense. Bit by bit we get sent up some more steps to sit on the right opposite the cashiers. Seamless process wait your turn pay, get receipt then go to right down more step to collect. Collect box on one table sent to another table for goody bag and wrist bands. Female goody bags run out we were given male bags and told they have no more flip flops. Have a good night.
3 hours total Get home beads falling off Road: Monday used shuttle found the band nice music, nice people, drinks flowing. The drink trucks were so freaking high that every time I went to get a drink I had to mark a tall person to give my cup to the bar staff every time. Annoying. Cross stage then head to lunch. Got lunch from the first tent on the left of the lunch area labeled Creole. Eligon catering was written on something. Very basic, dry and bland food for creole. But the real travesty was the chicken was uncooked. (see pictures) We were so hungry we tried to eat around the uncooked poultry. My cousin upon going to another booth to get something else to eat (a wrap) was told she had to bring the box to show them. The meal chit was already given to the creole tent. Rest of Monday same following music and trying to get drinks. Road: Tuesday met the band in Socadrome cross stage nothing major to say, head to lunch stopped by the creole tent to tell them the chicken was uncooked the day before. Maglie Orlando Magic They said it was not dem. I saw a gentleman with a shirt that read Food Supervisor when I went to him to tell him he promptly to me “I am not the food supervisor….It doh have no supervisor here” I moved on and got me a veggie lasagna box (cause I was scared to partake in any meat at that point) I ate that then left TRIBE and went and joined my friends in Fantasy for the rest of my carnival Tuesday. Based on all the talk about Tribe and their supposed excellent customer (I didn’t experience it) I have honestly had better customer service, and experience with Fantasy and even Island People. I know everybody experience is different and all that, but the one thing that you always hear is that Tribe is best for customer service. Well I was the customer and the customer service I got was deplorable. Uncooked meat is unacceptable any way you look at it. So I give up my place in Tribe 2017 let it be filled by the 10 people they say are desperate and waiting to fill the spot.
